Even when sleeping 8 hours: being unable to sleep doesn’t mean that you will get the benefits of actually sleeping.Did you ever wake up at 3am, and then you couldn’t go back to sleep? Then during the day you feel a little bit off, maybe even a bit “emotionally fragile”, a bit low energy, slow to respond, not sharp.Well, that has everything to do with what happens during the second half of the night. It’s then that you go through REM-sleep, which is basically processing your day and also preparing and practicing social scenarios through dreaming.So it’s not just the number of hours that’s important, but also the quality of sleep.Okay, okay, enough with the negative!What are the benefits of sleeping better and sleeping more?I’m glad you asked, because it’s the sort of thing that everyone knows, but it’s still good to write it down sometimes.
